Tiger Woods crashes 2021 Genesis GV80 loaner car
The golf superstar has been an ambassador for Hyundai’s luxury brand since 2019. He has now delivered unexpected headlines to the company.
Tiger Woods participated in a serious accident on a California highway, driving a loaner Genesis GV80 car.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the “jaws of life” were needed to extract Mr. Woods from the vehicle. He was rushed to a local hospital by ambulance with “multiple leg injuries,” where he underwent emergency surgery.
No other car appears to be involved. The aftermath images show significant damage to the front and it appears that the car left the road at high speed.

The Golf superstar – who has been a Genesis brand ambassador since 2019 – had made media appearances for the Hyundai-owned manufacturer in the hours leading up to the crash.
The 2021 Genesis GV80 SUV has a series of high-tech safety features, but has not yet been tested by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP).
Mr. Woods is known to be a fan of exotic cars and is said to own a large private fleet including a Cadillac Escalade, Lamborghini Murcielago, Buick Bengal, Porsche Carrera GT, Buick Velite, Mercedes-Benz S65, Buick Enclave, a Buick Lacrosse and Lexus lS460.
