Following the acquisition of Robinson Canó, journeyman Phil Gosselin was DFA to make room for Canó on the active roster. I thought there was a decent chance he cleared the waivers and the Braves latched onto him as organizational depth, but the angels decided not to let that happen, reuniting with the man on duty.

The news comes weeks after the Angels acquired Touki Toussaint from the Braves, and both players know Angels general manager and former Braves front office member Perry Minasian. Phil Gosselin spent last season with the Angels, posting decent numbers and playing 104 games. He appeared in 12 competitions with the Braves this season and replaced the injured Ozzie Albies well. However, there is no doubt that Canó is an upgrade. He’s also a left-handed batsman, making him a better option for the pack with Orlando Arcia. It would have been nice to hang on to Goose, but I’m not shocked that anyone called for him, especially a club like the Angels who know what he brings to the table.
