Cleveland Browns drop RB John Kelly, favor three for Detroit Lions

The Cleveland Browns announced on Saturday that they were relinquishing running back John Kelly. Additionally, they activate DE Porter Gustin and WR Lawrence Cager from the practice squad and have appointed CB Herb Miller as their COVID-19 replacement.
With Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton safe from COVID-19 and able to bolster D’Ernest Johnson, the Browns were free to give up Kelly, whom they will likely re-sign on the practice squad if he accepts the waivers .
Gustin reinforces the defensive edge position. Takkarist McKinley is questionable despite training all week, so if he’s unable to go, they may have Gustin as an extra body to spin.
Cager is a huge wide receiver at 6’5 “220. He was first signed to the pre-game practice team in Los Angeles, apparently to help prepare Mike Williams. The Browns never got around. got rid of Cager and they’ve now made the decision to activate it.
Anthony Schwartz suffered a concussion against the New England Patriots and will be out for this game. Cager could just be for additional injury during the game, but the Browns could kick him out just because of his physical dimensions for some reps.
Miller has been constantly activated in recent weeks as the Browns juggled corners. Greg Newsome missed time due to a calf injury. Greedy Williams then missed time with a shoulder injury and this week Troy Hill and AJ Green are unavailable due to injuries this week.
